S'oam bawi - Sacaton
Phaseolus acutifolius. Drought resistant medium-sized orange-tan seeds. These early-maturing beans were once commercially cultivated by the Gila River Indian Community near Sacaton, AZ. Though almost lost for a time, the practice of farming brown teparies has been revived again in Sacaton. S'oam bawi is the O'odham expression for brown beans. From our Seed-Bank Collection.
