Sacaton Brown "S'oam bawi."

PT004

Phaseolus acutifolius.  Drought resistant medium-sized orange-tan seeds. These early-maturing beans were once commercially cultivated by the Gila River Indian Community near Sacaton, AZ.  Though almost lost for a time, the practice of farming brown teparies has been revived again in Sacaton.  "S'oam bawi" is the O'odham expression for "brown beans". From our Seed-Bank Collection.
