  • Phaseolus acutifolius. Small yellow-tan colored beans. USDA selected and grown out in Tucson. Can be grown on a trellis or be left to sprawl on the ground.  From our Seed-Bank Collection.

Amazing, they are super drought tolerant!

I grew these intermixed with the black teparies, in Lakeside, CA, in the middle of summer (which is usually too hot to grow much of anything), and these beans thrived! They are growing with some corn and they are even twining up the corn a little bit and producing little pods.

Haven't planted them yet but the other Tepary beans i ordered produced great.

Tepary in Chandler/Gilbert area

I planted these in late June. They sprouted within a few days and are the only thing that has thrived in my garden this long hot summer. They definitely need a trellis to help support them.
