The Native Seeds/SEARCH Retail Store is seeking enthusiastic desert gardeners with strong customer service skills to volunteer one day per week at our Campbell Avenue location. We have a unique store filled with seeds, books, gardening supplies, indigenous art, local heritage foods, and more! This is a great opportunity to learn about seed conservation and to support our nonprofit work within the community.
The ideal candidate thrives in a customer service environment, is comfortable sharing information on our programs and membership, and will also participate in plant sales and special events. They will possess an interest in arid-adapted crops, Sonoran Desert wildflowers and will enjoy answering customer’s gardening questions.
Training will be provided for an overview of our mission, educational goals, community outreach programs, and Native Seeds/SEARCH products. Requirements:
- Strong customer service background (retail experience a plus!)
- Enthusiasm for making sales and sharing membership information
- 5-6 hour shifts, minimum of 1 day per week (or more if interested)
- Able to stand for most of the shift
- Able to lift 25 pounds
- 6-month commitment desired for regularly scheduled days
- Background check required
