NS/S supports seed libraries in educating and providing communities with free access to seeds and healthy foods. Each year we select one seed from our collection that we have in abundance and can send in larger quantities.
Our region of focus is the Southwest United States and Northwest Mexico, which generally includes: Arizona, New Mexico, southern Utah, southern Colorado, west Oklahoma, west Texas, southern California, southern Nevada, and northwest Mexico. However, if your seed library serves a Native community in an arid place outside of our region, we encourage you to apply for consideration.
2024 Seed Selection for Libraries
For 2024, the seed available is the Hopi Casaba melon. Mix of wrinkled, smooth, round, and elongate yellow-green fruit; pale green to orange flesh. Juicy with a mild flavor. Tasty with chile, salt, and lime. Keeps well if unbruised.
How to Apply
Seed libraries in our region can apply through the link below. Under the seed request list question on the application form, please write “Seed Library.” We will send Hopi Casaba melon seeds to qualifying libraries.
