The Flowering Southwest: Wildflowers, Cacti and Succulents in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas and Utah
Paintings by Erni Cabat, text by botanist Rodney G. Engard
A beautifully illustrated book by treasured Tucson artist Erni Cabat, originally published in 1989. Rodney G. Engard is a former board member of Native Seed/SEARCH. Here, as collaborators, they explore some of the plants that meet the challenge of life in a dry land. To survive, native plants have been forced to adapt. Many are living storehouses, locking vital moisture away in their roots or bodies. Others sprout and mature in a single season; only their seeds endure, waiting for the winter rain and the warmth of spring. And when the conditions are right, the region is touched again with living color.
