Double Rattlesnake Design Woven in Yucca Root

This exceptional handwoven basket is by Mary Pablo and measures approximately 9 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep. This outstanding piece features an adult with baby rattlesnake.

Plant materials are hand gathered from the Sonoran Desert for basket weaving. The interior green coils (warp) are native Beargrass and the white stitches (weft) woven around the coils are sun-bleached Soaptree Yucca. The double rattlesnake design woven in red is rare Yucca Root. The black stitching on the edge of the basket is Devil's Claw Pod.
