Santa Rita Wild Tepary

Phaseolus acutifolius var. latifolius. Originally collected in the Santa Rita Mountains south of Tucson. Exhibits a diversity of seed colors, including beige, dark brown and grey, and some seeds have brown speckles. Pole habitat. Readily reseeds, pods will easily "pop" open when dry. Much smaller and more difficult to germinate than domesticated teparies, but a fun exploration of agricultural history and wild plant conservation. Before planting, scarify seeds by sanding the seed coat lightly to allow water to penetrate. Approx. 50 seeds per packet.
