Small Woven Turtle Sculpture

This handwoven round basket is by Fred Cruz and measures approximately 5.25 inches long by 2.5 inches wide and 2.75 inches high.

Plant materials are hand gathered from the Sonoran Desert for basket weaving. The interior green coils (warp) are native Beargrass and the white stitches (weft) woven for the turtle's body is sun-bleached Soaptree Yucca, the green stitching used on the turtle shell is unbleached Soaptree Yucca. The details woven in black are Devil's Claw Pod.
