Dia de San Juan
Zea mays. An all-purpose white Mexican june corn used for everything by the Mayo. From north of Alamos, Sonora. Planted on the Dia de San Juan (June 24) when Southwestern folks traditionally celebrate the coming of the summer rains. Staff favorite for green corn tamales and roasting corn.
