    Yellow Pear Tomato

    • TS343
    • Solanum lycopersicum. A sweet pear-shaped cherry tomato with a tart tangy zing. A great color and shape variation to add to a bowlful of cherry (tomatoes) or to a salad. Many gardeners have had good success with this variety in Tucson, despite extreme heat. The thick skin resists cracking. Not from our seed bank collection, but your purchase supports our conservation mission.

      • Contents: approx. 30 seeds (0.1 g)
      • Indeterminate habit.

    Prolific, vigorous, hardy, tasty.

I planted these in Tucson in the spring of 25 from starts I bought from NS/S in a raised bed on the south side of a masonry wall. They took quickly and produced all summer. I planned to take them out when the cold got them, but with our non-winter this year, that never happened. Now in June 2026 they (with some Texas Wild Cherry mixed in) have formed a substantial thicket with minimal trellis support. They’re just beginning to age out after a year+ of near-continuous, copious production. I’ve done almost nothing for them except for regular water. Birds seem to be less interested in them than in their red neighbors. They’re good in salads, and excellent for salsa and quick pasta sauces. Easiest tomato success I’ve ever had in Tucson.

    Tomato plants for desert

I was looking for a variety of tomato seeds that would go well in the Tucson summer heat. I came across seeds from Native Seeds that says they do well in heat. I started the seeds and will see if they produce.

    Never sprouted

I tried twice to sprout the tomatoes, with no luck.

    Tomatitos Amarillos- Phoenix AZ

Muy curiosos estos tomatitos amarillos en forma de perita. La salsa de molcajete sale BIEN BUENA con estos. Se pueden comer así nada más también. A veces los pájaros les tiran sus picotazos pero hay que compartir. La mata necesita soporte. Funny shape. Excellent for molcajete salsa or to eat them like that. Sometimes birds peck at them but we have to share.

    Yellow pear tomato

Honestly, I have not planted yet, so this review is not all that helpful aside from the fact that I am 100% confident I will be satisfied. The variety is known for being able to take the heat, and Native Seeds is a reliable source in my experience.
