Parry's Penstemon - still waiting in phoenix

I give it a 3 -- only because they haven't sprouted yet! Maybe it's been too cold? However, one lonely seed did sprout, and it grew to a small plant an inch in diameter, only to have a javelina rip it up! So, I'm still waiting. I have ordered Parry's Penstemon in the past, as live plants, from another company. I love them! So, I have high hopes for these seeds to become great additions to my yard as well.

parry's penstemon - native to the Mid-Sonora zone

Seeds are good - these are everywhere in good years up here in Pinal Cty where the mts. meet above Oracle Hwy.

One of the first to bloom here in my SW NM location zone 8a

This plant is spectacular. The picture doesn't show the leaves - they are blue green and the flower stems have a purple tinge. Stunning plant. Ours is on drip irrigation and that helps it to fill out fully. One plant will fill about a 2x2' space in about 6 months with enough water, we've found. I have others that are not on drip irrigation, and that instead depend on rainfall and my good graces - those are smaller, but still blooming. If you are in the SW, or probably most parts of CA and southern OR, I highly recommend this plant.
