  • Cucurbita argyrosperma var. sororia. A wild cushaw also called Coyote Breasts or Trickster Breasts or Bitter Squash. From Guarijio land in Sonora, Mexico.  Bitter juice of fruits is reputedly used for weaning infants. This wild crop relative produces small, 5 inch round or oblong green-striped fruits. From our Seed Bank Collection. 

    • Origin: low desert, around 3000' elevation
    • Can cross with domesticated cushaw squash (C. argyrosperma) and can cause domesticated fruit to turn bitter
