Ciudad Victoria

  • TM005
  • Solanum lycopersicum var cerasiforme.   These tomatoes have a bright, slightly acidic, classic tomato flavor, and are abundantly productive, even in hot/dry conditions. Their vigorous vines produce ample leaves to shade the  1/2" diameter fruit, and they don't need shade cloth even in the midst of the Tucson summer. Monica, our Conservation Garden Associate, says "They may be my new favorite tomato!"

Flavorful, stackable, adorable

The Ciudad Victoria tomatoes are doing really well so far. The plants have stayed fairly compact, but are producing well. They're extremely tiny! Less than a quarter of the size of a grocery store cherry tomato—more like a large blueberry. It took a month longer to germinate these indoors than the other tomatoes I'm growing, that could have been user error. Once I fully gave up and repurposed that soil for other seeds, these came right up! They're fun to have but I'll grow fewer (one instead of three) next year in favor of larger, more versatile tomato varieties like NSS's Flamenco.
