Physalis philadelphica.  Originally collected in 1986 at a truck stop in Mexicali, Mexico by a long-time board member. These are the largest tomatillos in our collection. Fruits are husked. Makes a nice, tangy salsa.

NOTE! Our 2021 growout of this tomatillo produced both large green tomatillos (expected) and smaller purple tomatillos (unexpected). We speculate that this variety MAY have come from hybrid fruit. Please be aware that you may get a mix of fruit when growing this variety.
