  • Cicer arietinum. This variety is dry-farmed by the Rarámuri people in the fall, at the bottom of the Barranca del Cobre (Copper Canyon) in Chihuahua, Mexico. From our Seed Bank Collection.

    • Origin: Low Desert, about 2000' elevation
    • Plant in fall through early February in the low desert, or in early spring in cooler climates.
    • Prefers well drained soil and arid climates.
    • Approx. 6g/ 25 seeds per packet.
    • Limit 3 packets.

The critters loved them

I was happy when I saw the seeds start to germinate but the little seedlings started to disappear. Something was eating them. I think it was mice. I tried covering them with hardware wire which worked for a while but eventually either something found a way through or something else ate them.
