Newfields White
Phaseolus acutifolius. A small white tepary from Newfields in the Chukut Kuk District of the Tohono O'odham Nation, near the Mexico border. NS/S obtained this variety from the USDA, who collected it from Newfields in the 1960's. From our Seed Bank Collection.
- Warm season crop
- Origin: low desert, about 0' elevation
- Approx. 6g/50 seeds per packet.
- Limit 3 packets.
*Tepary beans grow best in hot, dry regions with minimal water or irrigation. Overwatering (in any climate) will cause the plants to look very leafy and healthy, but they'll produce few, if any beans. If grown out of region, which is the desert Southwest, results may vary.
