    • Cucurbita maxima.  These large fruits are variable in shape and color.  Young fruits have green-gray skin that turns orange or white as it ripens and cures.  Mature fruits have nice thick, mild-flavored flesh.  Though it comes from coastal Sonora, this variety was a strong producer in our Tucson grow-out, with good leaf coverage shielding blossoms and young squashes from the heat of the sun.

Collected in 1985 from a Mayo community in coastal Sonora near the Gulf of California.  From our Seed Bank Collection.

      • Origin: low coastal, about 300' elevation
      • A little over 2 months from planting to first edible fruit; keeps producing until frost.
      • Approx. 4g/15 seeds per packet.
      • Limit 3 packets
    • $4.50
