Navajo Banana Hubbard

Cucurbita maxima.  A stunning variety!  Very large football to banana shaped squashes with pale to bright orange skin and thick tasty orange flesh.  Originally collected by NS/S in 1995 from a farmer at the Northern Navajo Fair in Shiprock.  The longest one grown by our partner farmer last year was 44" long, though most are in the range of 20-30".  Food for a crowd in any case.  An occasional blue teardrop shape may appear. Showed some resistance to squash bugs in our partner's growout. From our Seed Bank Collection.
