Made with mesquite meal from pods of the desert mesquite tree for an unusual, caramel-like nutty flavor

These scones are cholesterol free, low fat and incredibly tasty
Mesquite meal is good for diabetics as it helps regulate blood sugar. Its natural sweetness also helps lower the sugar content in desserts.
Ingredients: Organic wheat flour, mesquite meal, organic evaporated cane juice, poppy seeds, baking powder, baking soda and sea salt.

Tasty but costly

I bought this mix and tried it 1st with my family. We loved it. We used lemon Greek yogurt as recommended. Then, we sent a pkg to a family friend looking for diabetes-friendly goodies. It was well received. Then, I did a baking project with my young Girl Scout troop (5-8 yr olds) & they loved it too. It was easy & fun to make & tasty with butter! Plus we related it to our recent nature walk where we identified mesquite trees and their bean pods. That will have a lasting, positive impression. I just wish this product wasn't so expensive.

Intriguing and Yummy Mesquite Scone Mix

I made the scones with lemon yogurt (I used Chobani brand), as suggested on the bag. The flavor is hard to describe….earthy, somewhat gingerbready, but only somewhat. I love the texture of the poppy seeds in it, and also appreciate that it’s mildly sweet, rather than very sweet. I love trying new foods and new flavors and this one is a winner.

I made mini muffins with the first order. With the apple jelly they made a very yummy breakfast muffin and a sweet afternoon snack with coffee or tea. I’m looking forward to making the crumb cake recipe with the second order.
