    Golden Purslane

    • TS203
    • Portulaca oleracea. Verdolagas in Spanish. This is not a wild purslane, but a cultivated variety. Its leaves are much larger, and it stays more upright, making it easier to pick the succulent leaves. Purslane's crispy, lemony leaves are very tasty, and it is exceptionally nutritious: it is very high in Vitamin E, beta carotene, the omega 3 ALA, and more.  A warm season crop, plant purslane in the springtime after danger of frost is past.  Not from our Seed Bank Collection, but your purchase supports our conservation mission.

    ok now they're going

I planted these in Denver in early spring and got only three sad little sprouts until we hit late (hot) summer, and then all of a sudden they were all sprouting at once! Tasty and cute!

    Great germination and reseeding

I’m in Las Vegas NV. I had zero problems getting this to grow wherever I put seeds. It grows upright and is easy to harvest. The ones I cut back to about 2” sent out side shoots fairly quickly. Taste is pretty good. I’ll definitely be purchasing again.

    Tasty

I planted it during cooler weather and was disappointed at how small it was and slow growing. But as soon as the weather warmed up it exploded in size! I took a few nibbles and I can't wait to put it in a full salad.
