    • Phaseolus acutifolius.  A high yielding tepary collected in an Hispanic colonial town on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Madre in Chihuahua, Mexico. The purple-pink flowers produce black and dark brown seeds. When planted in Tucson in summer, plants started flowering about a month from planting, and main harvest was about 3 months from planting. From our Seed-Bank Collection.

      • Warm season planting
      • Origin: High Desert
      • Habit: they seem to enjoy climbing a trellis but can be grown without support
      • Approx. 7g/50 seeds per packet.
      • Limit 3 Packets

*Tepary beans grow best in hot, dry regions with minimal water or irrigation. Overwatering (in any climate) will cause the plants to look very leafy and healthy, but they'll produce few, if any beans. If grown out of region, which is the desert Southwest, results may vary.

      Beautiful beans

I haven't planted them yet, but have planted several varieties of other tepary beans from Native Seed Search and love them. Also absolutely love Marquez Ranch squash and have planted them for several years now.

      Great beans

I’m pleasantly surprised that some of my beans have been drought and high heat resistant. I live N of Austin, TX. We’re having a record heat wave and drought with water rationing. I thought all my plants would die. I will continue to save the beans from these plants for the future.
