    • Phaseolus acutifolius.  A traditional bean from Ures in central Sonora, sometimes grown on marginal land because of its heat and drought resistance. The locals told us it produces as much if grown in spring (planted March and harvested late June) as summer (planted July-Aug and harvested in November). From our Seed-Bank Collection.

      • Warm season planting
      • Origin: Low Desert, about 1400' elevation
      • Habit: some twining but not a vigorous climber
      • Approx. 6g/50 seeds per packet.
      • Limit 3 packets.

*Tepary beans grow best in hot, dry regions with minimal water or irrigation. Overwatering (in any climate) will cause the plants to look very leafy and healthy, but they'll produce few, if any beans. If grown out of region, which is the desert Southwest, results may vary.

      Excellent beans

Year 2, and these are excellent brands. I save seed from 2024, planted and trellised the beans. Wonderful vines fill of beans. Shine volunteers came up and climbed my sunflowers so have abundance. Wish I could send pictures from Albuquerque.
