Many Farms AZ

When I was a kid in the late '70's & early '80's Many Farms AZ was full of gardens filled with these melons. The winter melon were all uniform in shape and size. There was no elongated or oblong that I remember. There were both red and yellow meated melons on one vine, the yellow being sweeter. All melons were pale green in coloration with very faint banding. There use to be a larger icebox size yellow meated pale green watermelon that was grown with the winter melons I don'see anymore. Also an icebox size red meated pale green watermelon use to be grown, which I can only assume is the Navajo red seeded watermelon. One thing they all had in common was the pale green rind. I'm glad to see some of these high desert strains of watermelons is being preserved, thank you.
