Drawing on thousands of years of foodways, Tucson cuisine blends the influences of Indigenous, Mexican, mission-era Mediterranean, and ranch-style cowboy food traditions. This book offers a food pilgrimage, where stories and recipes demonstrate why the desert city of Tucson became America's first UNESCO City of Gastronomy. Includes the origin story of Native Seeds/SEARCH.

A MUST buy for 2020 and beyond!

I purchased this book for my graduate degree and read it cover to cover! The quality of content is phenomenal for a scholar, yet also approachable and very engaging for anyone who simply wants to learn about Arizona. The book is very well organized and easy to read. It's peppered with fantastic stories, history, quotes, archeological evidence, recipes, and more. A 2020 new release which will grow to showcase the beauty and bounty of Arizona foodways. My favorite read of the whole year. I highly recommend this book to any lover of the Southwest!
