  • Amaranthus cruentus.  A variable variety with mostly red inflorescences but some may be white or marbled.  Named for the Mexican confection made from popped amaranth seed, and for its origin in Huazulco in the state of Morelos, south of Mexico City.   From our Seed Bank Collection.

    • Origin: High tropical savannah at about 5200' elevation
    • Can perform well in low desert also
    • Edible leaves and seeds
    • Mostly blond seeds
    • Approx. 0.3g/300 seeds per packet.
